High Cholesterol Causes Angina

High cholesterol or postponing a treatment to lower cholesterol can lead to Angina a condition characterized by mild chest pain pressure or discomfort, feeling of heaviness, choking or suffocation (angina pectoris) caused by insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle, also referred to as (ischemia).

Angina is in fact a cardiovascular disease that triggers heavy sensation or pressure under the chest bone. The feeling of pressure can often spread to the shoulders, arms or jaw areas. Angina occurs when the heart has a need for oxygen beyond the capacity of the blood to provide resulting in physical exertion.

Angina symptoms can often be temporary resolved by rest, but the condition is chronic and can manifest its symptoms for a period of a lifetime.

Not managing high cholesterol properly, by taking the necessary means to lower cholesterol be that statin drugs or the natural alternative, can cause cholesterol to build up in the arteries resulting in the narrowing and hardening of the arteries, also called atherosclerosis. When arteries are narrow, blood cannot flow freely and distribute oxygen to the heart brain, cells and other parts of the body. This insufficient supply of oxygen to the heart is what causes Angina or Angina pectoris.

In severe cases where complete blockage occurs within the arteries, blood cannot flow through the arteries, leading to heart attacks.

To minimize the risk of having Angina or heart attack due to cholesterol build up in the arteries, one must test cholesterol levels regularly and in case the results indicate the need to lower cholesterol (overall cholesterol is more than 200 mg/dl), an immediate action should be taken, to effectively reduce overall cholesterol levels below 200mg/dl, and raise the good HDL cholesterol above 40mg/dl.

This can all be achieved by taking prescription medication to lower cholesterol called stain drugs. Effective as they are in preventing heart disease, Angina and other symptoms related to high cholesterol, the use of lowering cholesterol drugs, carry a line of serious side effects. To lower cholesterol naturally and without side effects, a low cholesterol diet, exercise and relaxation techniques ahs been proven to be safe , healthy ad highly effective.
