Lecithin and Cholesterol - a Supplement to Lowering Cholesterol
Lecithin, derived from the Greek word: likithos, meaning egg yolk. Lecithin is one of soy’s byproducts, usually sold in a form of soft gelatin capsules or granular powder, and has been found to have an amazingly wide variety of health benefits, among them are the lowering of cholesterol, improving liver function and memory. If you suffer from high cholesterol, lecithin is one of the must supplements you should be taking on a daily basis.
Researches have proved the powerful ability of lecithin to lower cholesterol. One experiment gave 3.5 grams of lecithin to 32 patients for 30 days before having their meals. The results were amazing: the total blood cholesterol was decreased by 33%, the LDL also known as the “bad cholesterol” was decreased by 38% and the HDL also known as the “good cholesterol” was increased by 46%! Also the triglycerides among the patients were reduced by 33%.
Other researches have found lecithin as a powerful inhibitor of cholesterol absorption by the intestines and having large positive impact on lipoproteins.
Lecithin also contains large amounts of choline, which has been proven to speed up metabolism of fat and significantly lower LDL cholesterol and raise the HDL cholesterol. Lecithin was found to aid in fat transportation, remove cholesterol and fat from the blood and increasing bile acids produced from more cholesterol thus lowering the total blood cholesterol level in your body.
For optimal results, the recommended daily amount is about 7 grams. If you were diagnosed with high cholesterol be sure to take lecithin regularly, buy the granule form and not the gelatin version, take it with food and make sure you add your vitamin B complex to the mix since the two are an amazing couple working best to naturally lower cholesterol.
